Understand the Account, Budget, and Card Relationship
What Is the Relationship Between Accounts, Budgets, and Cards
ORBSIS separates real funds, spending controls, and payment instruments into different layers: the Primary Account centralizes funds, Sub Accounts isolate funds by team or project, Budgets control the spending scope for a purpose, and virtual cards execute payments.
Why This Relationship Matters
Understanding this relationship prevents you from treating a Budget as a bank account and helps you identify the cause of insufficient balance or an unavailable card more quickly.
How to View Fund Flows and Calculations
Funds flow through ORBSIS in the order “Primary Account → Sub Account → Budget → Virtual Card → Card Transaction.” Primary and Sub Accounts hold real funds; a Budget only limits the spending scope; and a virtual card can spend only after it is associated with a Budget.
The complete definitions, fund-flow steps, and calculation formulas for key fields such as Budget Limit, Total Spent, Available to Spend, Utilized Limit, and Available Limit are documented in “ORBSIS Core Concepts.” Read that document before continuing with the rest of this chapter.
