Budgets and Spend Controls
What conditions must be met to create a Budget?
Answer: You need an available Sub Account, and the Sub Account’s Available Balance in the selected currency must be sufficient.
Why can I not continue allocating a limit to a Dedicated Limit Card when the Budget still has a balance?
Answer: Check the Budget’s Available Limit, not only its Available to Spend amount. The Card Limit set for a Dedicated Limit Card occupies the Budget limit. Even if the card has not spent anything, that portion cannot be allocated to another Dedicated Limit Card.
Why can I not adjust the Budget to the same amount as its current limit?
Answer: The same amount would not create an actual change, so the system blocks the submission. Enter a new amount that differs from the current limit and meets the upper and lower limits shown on the page.
How are the upper and lower limits for adjusting a Budget calculated?
Answer: When increasing a Budget, the upper limit is usually the current Budget Limit plus the Available Balance of the linked Sub Account. When decreasing it, the new limit cannot be lower than the portion already spent or occupied by card limits. Check the Sub Account Available Balance, Budget Total Spent, and Utilized Limit before entering an amount that meets the page validation rules.
Why was the full amount not released after a Budget was disabled or returned?
Answer: Only the unspent and unoccupied portion that can be released can be returned to the linked Sub Account’s Available Balance. Spent, authorized, or still card-limit-occupied amounts cannot be released directly. Check the Budget details and the Sub Account statement for the Budget return record.
